Phyllis Roeder Phillips

Phyllis Anne Smith Roeder Phillips, 83, of Greer, South Carolina, passed away on March 8, 2026. A native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late George A. and Alice Kalne Smith. She graduated from Bob Jones Academy and went on to earn her nursing degree from Swedish Covenant Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago. Phyllis devoted her career to nursing, serving in Florida and Ohio, and remained a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church throughout her life.

She is survived by her husband, James Mclauchlin Phillips, Sr.; a son, Mark Andrew Roeder of Taylors; a stepdaughter, Missy Morphis (Scott) of Youngsville, North Carolina; and two grandchildren, Anna Roeder and Andrew Roeder. Phyllis was predeceased by her first husband, Dr. James Keith Roeder; a daughter-in-law, Holly Roeder; and a sister, Sheila Smith.

Her family will remember her quiet strength, her commitment to caring for others, and the steady faith that guided her life.
