Benson, of Robbinsdale, formerly of New Hope, passed away peacefully in the evening hours of March 13th at the age of 96.Phyllis was born on December 9th, 1929, in Stanton, Iowa, to Richard and Mildred Moberly. She worked at Hennepin County Court Services, where she met her husband-to-be. Jerry and Phyllis married in July 1960 and spent the next 63 years together raising their two sons, Kip and Kurt.Phyllis had a great love for her family and friends. She was a loving wife, sister, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and friend to many.Phyllis enjoyed hosting friends and family for elaborate and beautiful dinners, sharing stories around the dining room table, cooking the most delicious food, going shopping with her granddaughters, tap dancing, and mowing her lawn on hot summer days.Phyllis was preceded in death by her loving husband of 63 years, Gerald; their son, Kip (Kipper); and many other family members and friends.She is survived by her son, Kurt (Ann); daughter-in-law, Lori; granddaughters Brianna (Andrew) Chuba, Leah (Travis) Seurer, Megan; and great-grandchildren Macie, Maven, and Benson.A funeral service will be held Friday, March 27th, at 10:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior, at Peace Lutheran Church, 4512 France Avenue North, Robbinsdale, MN.Private interment will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.Memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
