Phyllis Carole Shilow Boyce

Phyllis Carole Shilow Boyce, known to all as Carole, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2026, at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. Born on April 27, 1940, in Baltimore, Maryland, Carole was the cherished daughter of Gordon Eugene Ridgely and Elizabeth Catherine (Mayer) Ridgely.

Carole spent many years working in the Credit Department at U.S. Food Service, where she was known as a dedicated and dependable employee. She was first married to Herbert Shilow, Sr., and together they raised four children: Herbert Jr., Donald, Victoria, and Todd. Following Herbert’s passing, she later found love again and married Otis Boyce. Carole was also a proud stepmother to Dawn, Billy, Carl and April.

In addition to raising her own children, Carole lovingly raised her grandson, Herbert Shilow III, whom she cared for as one of her own.

A resident of Glen Burnie for more than 25 years, Carole was a devoted Christian. Her faith was central to her life, and she was especially active in the church’s Bible study groups. She loved watching the Prices Right, cooking and completing crossword puzzles.

Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Eugene and Elizabeth Catherine (Mayer) Ridgely; her first husband, Herbert Shilow, Sr.; her sons, Herbert Shilow, Jr. and Todd Shilow; her second husband, Otis Boyce; her sisters, Betty Taylor and Diane Ridgley; and her granddaughter, Rachel Shilow.

Carole is survived by her children, Victoria (David) Trasko and Donald (Dana) Shilow; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly.

The family held a private gathering and service at Kirkley Ruddick Funeral Home on the evening of March 6. Interment will also remain private.

Carole’s family would like to express their deep appreciation for the many condolences and support received during this time. They are grateful for the understanding and respect shown regarding the privacy of their family and services.
