Phyllis Cable Gunning

Phyllis Cable Gunning passed away peacefully on March 8, 2026. Born on January 10, 1950, in Gastonia, North Carolina, she remained a lifelong resident of the community where her warmth and spirit touched everyone she met.

Phyllis devoted 46 years of her working life to Wix Filters in quality control. Her colleagues remembered her not only for her strong work ethic but also for her kindness and the sense of camaraderie she brought to the workplace. She was a longtime member of Evangel Assembly of God in Gastonia and also attended the Place Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Willie Cable; her daughters, Staci Leah Lipscomb and Jama Lynn Arnold; and her brother, Glenn Cable.

Phyllis is survived by her grandchildren, Dustin Lipscomb, Hollis Lipscomb, Megan Lipscomb, and Carley Lipscomb; her great-grandchildren, Iliana, Julian, Christian, Trinity, Ireyanna, Javaeh, Mason, Levi, Amiyah, Saniyah, Rylee, Londyn, and Braylen; her sisters, Betty Lewis and Barbara Hawkins; and her best friend, whom she loved like a daughter, Shirley Edwards, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
