Sherman, TX

Philip Ray Kiser, Sr., 84, of Sherman, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Born on April 24, 1941, to Asa Leo Kiser, Sr., and Beatrice S. Kiser, Phil grew up in a large family where he took seriously his role looking after his younger siblings and helping them stay on the right path.

From an early age, Phil was active in the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club, where he played baseball and basketball, and he faithfully attended services at the Salvation Army, often bringing his younger brothers and sisters along. Even before graduating from high school, he worked to help support the household. He later served the United States Government for more than 25 years before retiring.

Phil is survived by his loving wife, Wanda Kiser; his sons, Philip Kiser, Jr. (Amy), Mark Kiser, and John Lindsey; granddaughters Hope Schatzmann (Aaron) and Kara Kiser; great-grandson River; and his siblings Linda Norton (Ronnie), Henry Kiser (Bonnie), and Janet Abney (Morgan), along with many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings, as well as nephews and a niece.

He found joy in treasure hunting at estate sales, collecting clocks, and playing racquetball, but nothing meant more to him than his family, whom he loved deeply and cared for throughout his life.
