Philip Quandt

September 26, 1951 March 9, 2026

Centralia, IL

Philip Quandt, 74, of Centralia, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026 at SSM Health St. Mary Hospital in Richmond Heights, Missouri, surrounded by his family. Born on September 26, 1951 in Salem, he was the son of Clarence and Helen (Kleiss) Quandt. On March 6, 1974 in Salem, Phil married the love of his life, Glenda “Gay” Geiler, who preceded him in death on November 23, 2018.

Phil graduated from Kinmundy-Alma High School in 1969 and remained close with many of his classmates, faithfully attending monthly luncheons with the Kinmundy Class of 1969. He worked for many years at the Centralia Correctional Center and later owned and operated Phil’s Lawn Mower, serving his community with quiet dedication. A longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Centralia and a proud Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, Phil was known for his generous spirit and faithful service. He especially enjoyed cooking alongside his brother Knights at their breakfasts—where he earned the affectionate nickname “Bacon”—and spent many happy hours at the KC Hall on Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. He volunteered readily for church activities, including Autumn Fest and other parish events.

He is survived by his four sons, Mike Casseday and wife Tammy of Centralia, Bart Casseday and special friend Jenita Colclasure of Farina, Shane Quandt and wife Helen of Steelville, and Eric Quandt and wife Melissa of Walnut Hill; seven grandchildren, Adam Casseday, Amber Casseday, Zachary Casseday, Leah Diss, Luke Smith, Keegan Quandt, and Aria Quandt; four great-granddaughters, Hadlea Casseday, Emma Casseday, Freya Casseday, and Maisyn Diss; his sisters, Theresa (Craig) Stiven of St. Charles, Illinois, Benita (Dean) Langenfeld of Centralia, Regina (Jim) VanGeem of Carol Stream, and Angela (Randy) Schnake of Irvington; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bryce and Shirley Geiler of Kinmundy, sister-in-law Dorothy Geiler of Kinmundy, his godsons Tyson Simmons of Naperville and Derrick Schnake of Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda “Gay” Geiler Quandt; his parents, Helen and Clarence Quandt; his in-laws, Harry and Dolly Geiler; his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Bob Geiler, Betty and Ershal Jenkins, and Joyce and Lawrence Potter; his daughter-in-law Janet Casseday; and his nephew, Kory Langenfeld.
