Philip Max Gordon, age 83, of Lubbock, Texas and formerly of Sudan, Texas, died on March 8, 2026 in Lubbock. Born on August 26, 1942 in Amherst, Texas to Rufus Waymon and Letha Docia (Thomas) Gordon, he married Mary Ann Thomas in Olney, Texas on September 23, 1967.

Philip spent most of his life in Sudan, where he graduated from Sudan High School in 1960. He worked for ten years at First National Bank in Sudan and then spent thirty-one years at Plant X. He was an active member of his community, serving with the Sudan Volunteer Fire Department, belonging to the Sudan Lions Club, and coaching Little League baseball. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Sudan. Philip loved traveling to the mountains, fishing, attending concerts, and cooking out with family and friends. In 2017, he and Mary Ann moved to Lubbock.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Philip is survived by his wife, Mary Ann; his son, Jeffery Gordon and wife Kristy of Lubbock; his daughter, Kay Lynn Barton and husband Chuck of Lubbock; his brother, Paul Gordon and wife Anita of Midlothian, Virginia; eight grandchildren, Bryan Gordon and wife Michelle, Brad Gordon and wife Meagan, Danika Breeding and husband Bryson, Zachary Gordon, Madison Scully, Brennon Smith, Kellon Smith, Sydni Smith, and Maci Smith; four great-grandchildren, Kinsley Gordon, Charlee Gordon, Brynlee Gordon, and Walker Gordon; and his niece, Paula Gordon and nephew, Chris Gordon.
