Philip J. Davidson III passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Pittsburgh on March 12, 1943, to Lora (Peggy) Weidner and Philip J. Davidson, Phil grew up with a warmth and presence that earned him the fond nicknames “Too Tall” and “Uncle Phil” among friends and family.
A graduate of Tulane University, he remained deeply connected to the Pittsburgh community throughout his life. For more than 65 years he was a member of Fox Chapel Golf Club and also belonged to Rolling Rock Club, where he was known as an avid golfer and a skilled shot.
Phil shared a loving marriage of 60 years with his wife, Laurie (Kyle) Davidson. He was the devoted father of Diane Kyle Davidson Copas and Laurie Weidner Davidson, the cherished grandfather of Taylor, Cameron, Tristan, and Estella, and the brother of William Jeffrey (Helen) Davidson. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews who will remember his steady kindness and generous spirit.
