Philip E. Field

Philip E. Field, 83, of LaFayette, New York, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Iroquois Nursing Home. A lifelong resident of LaFayette, Phil married his high school sweetheart, Mary, and together they built a loving home where they raised their three children. He was a devoted father and grandfather who never missed his children’s or grandchildren’s games and events.

Phil retired from Allied Chemical and later worked for the Town of LaFayette. He was a dedicated lifetime member and past Chief of the LaFayette Fire Department. He especially cherished deer hunting with his sons, grandsons, friends, and neighbors, treasuring those times in the woods even though the big trophy always seemed to elude him.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Dorothy Field of Cardiff, his sister JoAnne Gormley, and his beloved wife Mary. Phil is survived by his three children, Mark (Lynne) Field of Fulton, James (Melanie) Field of McGraw, and Mary Beth (Steven Scharoun) Cummings of Syracuse; five grandchildren, Matthew (Hunter) Field, Philip Field, Allison Field, Marley Cummings, and Abigal (Shawn) Vollaro; two great-grandchildren, Marcus and Emily Field; his brothers, Karl Field and Michael Field; and several nieces and nephews.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Iroquois Nursing Home, who treated Phil like one of their own and affectionately called him “Uncle Phil.”
