Philip Earl Campbell, age 79, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away on March 12, 2026.
Born on June 12, 1946, to Evert and Mina (Wright) Campbell, Phil lived a life marked by deep devotion to his family, a lifelong love of learning, a passion for music, and a profound faith in his Savior. He shared these interests generously with those around him, always eager to engage in meaningful conversation and to pass along his knowledge.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Kathy Campbell; his children, Angela (Gary) Smelser and Benjamin (Amy) Campbell; and his cherished grandchildren, Taylor Smelser, Zachary (Jayme) Smelser, Rachael (Ryan) Roggie, and Dakota Campbell. He was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Lucas Campbell and Dawson Smelser, who brought him great joy.
Phil worked for General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan, for 31 years before retiring. He found joy in playing the trumpet, conducting family historical research, studying theology, and learning Koine Greek, the original language of the New Testament. He particularly loved Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, where he and his family often vacationed near Lake Superior and Marquette, walking the shores in search of agates and savoring the wind and waves. Phil will be remembered for his enthusiastic spirit, his commitment to family, and the quiet ways he shared his faith and love of learning with others. He is now at rest with his Lord.
