Phil Lindstrom Nye, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away on March 11 at the age of 90. Born on February 5, 1936, in Robeson County, North Carolina, he was the son of the late Rudus Dulon and Beatrice Taylor Nye. He was the brother of Reggie Nye, Beverly Curtis, and Norris Angela Nye, all of whom preceded him in death.

A dedicated student, Phil graduated as valedictorian of Orrum High School and went on to earn a degree in accounting from Carolina Business College in 1955. In 1956, he married the love of his life, Pauline “Polly” Sims Nye. Together they shared 63 years of marriage centered on faith, family, and love until her passing in 2019.

Phil enjoyed a distinguished 45-year career with Lorick Enterprises, Inc., serving as Corporate Secretary and Treasurer. He was a man of deep and quiet faith, a lifelong follower of Christ whose kindness, humility, and steady trust in God touched everyone around him. He was a devoted member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, held leadership roles, served on numerous committees, and was honored to serve two terms as church president.

He was a loving mentor to his son, Phil Jr., whom he advised and supported in his businesses, Southern Powertrain, Inc. and Diff-Tran Machining, Inc. Phil Jr. passed away in 2021. Father and son also shared many joyful years together in dirt track racing during the late 1970s and 1980s, earning 52 victories across the Southeast with the support of family and friends.

Phil is survived by his daughter, Patty Brooks and her husband Tim of Charlotte; his grandchildren, Tim Brooks Jr. and wife Beth of Concord, Megan McGrath and husband Josh of Huntersville, and Travis Nye of Charlotte; and his great-grandson, Grayson Brooks of Concord. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather whose faith, humor, and love for his family left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
