Peter Salmoiraghi ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, Inc. - Colchester on Mar. 10, 2026.It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peter Salmoiraghi of Colchester. He passed on March 8, 2026, with his family by his side after a courageous battle with Parkinson's Disease. Peter was born on June 20, 1943; he was a son of Orest and Elinor (Landry) Salmoiraghi. Peter was a graduate of the University of Hartford School of Engineering and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He was employed as a Mechanical Engineer at Electric Boat for 37 years until his retirement. Peter married Denise Sorice on October 26, 1968, and they shared 57 wonderful years together. Peter's greatest joy was his family. In addition to his wife Denise, Peter is survived by his son Kurt Salmoiraghi and his wife Christine of Manchester and his daughter Kelly Parola and her husband Taber of Colchester. He leaves behind his loving grandchildren, whom he adored deeply: Cameron, Marissa and Madison Parola and Axel Salmoiraghi. He was affectionately known as Popu. He also leaves behind his sisters Jaqueline Peterson, Cynthia Salmoiraghi (Maureen) and Brother David Salmoiraghi (Patricia) and nephews Thomas and John Peterson and niece Ting Ting Salmoiraghi and extended family Terri, Andrew and Mia Barillari. Peter was a kind and gentle soul who had a great passion for jogging, tennis, biking, woodworking and fishing. Funeral services will be held at the Aurora-McCarthy Funeral Home, 167 Old Hartford Rd., Colchester, beginning with calling hours on Friday, March 13th from 4-7 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 14th at 10:30 am, directly at St. Andrew Church, 128 Norwich Ave. Colchester. Burial will follow in New St. Andrew Cemetery.
