Peter Judson "Guitar" Anderson

Peter "Guitar" Judson Anderson, age 70, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on March 9, 2026. Born on October 1, 1955, Peter graduated from LaSalle High School before studying Art at Indiana University. He spent more than forty years working as a monument mason at South Bend Monument, where he was known for his steady presence and quiet dedication.

Peter’s deep love of music led him to play guitar for local bands Steel Shank and Icky Slughouse in the 1990s. He found great joy in cooking holiday meals for his family, caring for his cats with special “roll-up” treats, and sharing laughter and conversation at Bob’s Pub. He remained close with his former wife Jen Anderson after their divorce, looking after her daily by bringing her the paper and food until the very end.

He is survived by his ex-wives Renee Cooper and Jen Anderson; step-daughters Valerie Maternowski and Indi (Sondra) Poloma; step-son Max Maternowski; son Oliver (Bella) Pennino-Anderson; and five grandchildren, Leo, Julian, Louis, Simon, and Arthur. He is also survived by his sisters Sue (PJ) Vandewalle and Molly (Pat) Oshea, and brothers Mike (Judy) Anderson and Curt (Sue) Anderson. Peter was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Gretchen Anderson, sister Ann Laughman, brother Mark Anderson, and his dearest friend Timothy “Earth” Hulse. In keeping with his wishes, he was cremated and laid to rest at Riverview Cemetery in South Bend.
