Peter Joseph Mullen, 91 of Bucyrus passed away on Wednesday March 11, 2026, at home. Peter was born October 25, 1934, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the late Peter and Ann (Romac) Mullen. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, sister in law, two nieces, a great niece and many friends.
Peter is survived by children Brigid (Jeff) Pack, Peter (Shinobu) Mullen, Tara Mullen and Nora Mullen; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.
Peter was proud to have been from Etna in Pittsburgh, PA. He worked in the steel mills as a young man and he was a graduate of Duquesne University. He loved the Military and was retired as a Major from the U.S. Air Force after close to 30 years of service. He moved to Bucyrus in 1981 and served for some time as the both the Crawford County Health Commissioner and the Quartermaster of the VFW.
Being from Etna, Peter loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and marched there in the Veteran’s Day parades every year well into his late 80’s. He was a member of the VFW Post 1078, the AMVETS Post 27, and the American Legion Post #181.
Peter had many hobbies, but he especially enjoyed gambling, travel, auctions, all sports and taking care of his beloved dog “Sam”. Most of all Peter enjoyed and loved his family and being with friends.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 21st 2026, at 10:00am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 E N Broadway St., Columbus, Ohio
