Pete Eaquinta

November 24, 1952 March 11, 2026

Helper, UT

Pete Citerio Eaquinta, age 73, of Helper, passed away on March 11, 2026, in Price, Utah. Born on November 24, 1952, in Price to Dominic G. and Glorya Marie Wisniewski Eaquinta, Pete was a proud graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1971. Shortly after graduation, he hitchhiked to Montana with his best friend, embarking on an adventurous journey down the west coast into California. A true free spirit shaped by what he called “The School of Hard Knocks,” he eventually returned home to Price.

Pete married Evelyn Pendleton and later divorced. On June 22, 1996, in Royal, Utah, he married his best friend, Lynette Grover, who became his devoted companion. He worked as an aide at Parkdale Care Center, spent 15 years in the local coal mines at Deer Creek and Horizon, and later served in the Stress Unit at Castleview Hospital, where he met Lynette. In later years he worked as a home health aide, traveled to Texas with a horizontal drilling company, and was beloved as the janitor at Mont Harmon and Helper Junior High. Known affectionately as the “Wood Butcher,” he took great joy in creating beautiful pieces with his hands and honoring his Carbon County heritage.

Pete will be warmly remembered for his unwavering love and dedication to his wife, family, coworkers, patients, and friends, as well as the eight children he helped raise. He is survived by his wife, Lynette Eaquinta of Helper; son, Michael Eaquinta of Washington; best friends and cousins, Bobby and Cody Pike of Price; and Lynette’s children, David (Cindy) Murphy of Layton, Aaron Clegg of Centerville, Sarah (Erving) Rivera of Layton, Matt Clegg of Glendale, Arizona, Jon (Sue) Clegg of Chandler, Arizona, and Tim (Amber) Clegg of Henderson, Nevada.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Nick Eaquinta, his cousin Danny Pike, and his daughter Misty Eaquinta.
