Perry M. Smith

Perry M. Smith, 75, of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on February 18, 2026. Born on June 29, 1950, to the late John and Vivian Smith, he spent most of his life in the Central New York area. A graduate of DeRuyter Central, he lived in Sheds and attended Mohawk Community College before serving in the United States Air Force. He was a longtime member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local 267 in Syracuse and, after retiring, worked part time for the South Carolina State Parks.

Perry was predeceased by his brother Ron and his sisters Joanne Newton and Sandra Warner. He is survived by his wife, Jackie (Barber) Smith; his stepdaughter, Beth (Ryan) McCracken; and his grandchildren, Rylie Ann, Easton, and Ellis. He is also survived by his brother Roger, his sister Nancy Welch, his sister-in-law Desdie, and his brother-in-law Adrian Warner.

He will be remembered for the quiet strength and steady presence he brought to his family and the many lives he touched over the years.
