Penelope King Bratton

Penelope King Bratton, 79, of Luverne, Alabama, passed away at Baptist Medical Center South on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

A devoted caregiver, Penelope found deep fulfillment in looking after her mother and her beloved husband, Arthur Larry Bratton, during their later years. Her heart was as big as Texas, extending warmly to the many animals she cared for throughout her life. She also cherished music, especially Bluegrass, and was remembered by all as a thoughtful, caring, and generous soul whose love continues to echo in the lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Larry Bratton, and her parents, Charles Raphael and Etta Lou Williams King.

Penelope is survived by her siblings, Mary Holland Davis and Walter Alex (Jackie) King; nieces, Patti (Alan) Reynolds and Penny (Steve) Walsh; nephews, Eric (Maki) Davis, Walter (Karmina) King, and John Alan (Jennifer) King; and many great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.
