Memphis, TN
Peggy Taylor McLaughlin passed away on March 8, 2026. Born on January 9, 1938, in Attala County, Mississippi, to James and Eunice Kyle, she graduated from Memphis State University and remained a devoted Memphis Tigers fan throughout her life. She taught in the Memphis City Schools for nearly thirty years and was a longtime member of Alpha Delta Kappa sorority.
She and her first husband, the late Bill Taylor, raised three sons together. A woman of deep faith, Peggy was a dedicated prayer warrior for her family and found great joy in her church family at Central Church, where she served in multiple roles and comforted the grieving through the Comfort Circle for many years. Her favorite Bible verse was Ephesians 2:8-9. She cherished recognizing special occasions with loved ones, opened her home with warmth and hospitality, and especially treasured Christmas gatherings with her family.
Peggy was married to her faithful friend Don McLaughlin for thirty-one years. She was preceded in death by her first husband of thirty-two years, Bill Taylor, her parents James and Eunice Kyle, and her second husband, Don McLaughlin. She is survived by her sons Steve Taylor (Jeane) of Memphis, Tim Taylor (Karissa) of DeLand, Florida, and Todd Taylor (Lisa) of Moscow, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Chris Taylor (Whitney), Jared Taylor, Brandon Taylor, Grace Rios (Louie), Kelsey Pettus (Jamie), Anna Wilhaucks (Matthew), Sarah Taylor, and Rachel Taylor; six great-grandchildren, Ty Taylor, Jordyn Taylor, Hadley Taylor, Kinsley Pettus, Grayson Pettus, and Lainey Wilhaucks; and her siblings James Kyle (Anne), Diane Sprayberry (Kenneth), Gloria Hopkins (Ronnie), and Tammy Brown (Nick). She leaves behind many lifelong friends.
