Peggy Rhone

September 29, 1945 March 10, 2026

Elkhart, IN

Peggy Rhone of Elkhart passed away on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her family. Born on September 29, 1945, in Corsicana, Texas, to Bual and Mae Woodard, she lived a life marked by quiet strength, deep devotion to family, and a genuine love for others.

For 59 years, Peggy shared a loving marriage with her husband, Hubert Rhone. She was the cherished mother of Melissa Nichols and her husband Scott, and the late Nicole Scott. She is survived by her grandchildren Justin Nichols and his wife Emily, Cody Nichols and his wife Hanna, Jordan Scott, and Audiah Hernandez-Ramos and her husband Luis, as well as her great-grandchildren Liam, Landry, Logan, and Preston Nichols, Avalynn and Mia Hernandez-Ramos, and Peyton Crawford. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Norene Watson, and her brother Jim Collins.

Peggy enjoyed a long career in real estate, first as a Realtor with ERA and later as a Broker with Combined Associates Real Estate. She took pride in her work and the relationships she built, yet nothing brought her greater joy than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her face would light up whenever they entered the room, and she cherished simply watching them as they played and bustled about. Earlier in life, she loved fishing, undeterred by her inability to swim or her fear of water. One cherished memory involved her paddling out on a lake in a paddle boat, life jacket securely fastened, while family members called to her from the shore.

Peggy will be deeply missed as a loving wife, mother, and “Meme,” yet her family finds comfort in the hope of seeing her again.
