She was born on May 15, 1952, in Greenup, Illinois. Peggy was the cherished daughter of George Jr. Lewis and Faye (Kemper) Lewis.Peggy graduated from Hammond High School and went on to build a life defined by hard work, compassion, and dedication to her community. She was an EMT in Chalmers, helping to bring first responders to the community. Many remember her as the talented owner of Chalmers Country Cobbler, where she had the remarkable ability to bring new life to a well-worn pair of shoes. Her craftsmanship and care earned her admiration throughout the community. Later, Peggy discovered her true calling in the insurance industry. She worked for Farm Bureau insurance for many years before retiring from Farm Bureau Insurance and then continued serving others by founding Reese Insurance. To Peggy, it was never just a business, it was family. She was deeply committed to her clients, always ensuring they were supported, protected, and cared for.Outside of her work, Peggy treasured time with her family. You could often find her relaxing on the patio with a good book or talking to loved ones on the phone. Family gatherings, shared meals, and evenings spent playing cards were among her greatest joys. Those who played cards with her might say the rules occasionally shifted from game to game, but the laughter and love around the table never did.Peggy's legacy is one of strength, generosity, and unwavering devotion to family and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.Peggy was a strong, loving, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, David Reese; Children, Missi Reese (Jerry Curry), Tim (Shelly) Reese, and Antigone (Tim) Wagner.She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her grandchildren, Sabryna Bowman (Cody Mulryan), Zoe and Reese Syberg, Katrina, Shelby & Ian Curry, Madison & Mylie Reese, Toby, Megan, Hailey and Hayden Wagner. Great grandchild; Elizabeth Bowman. She is also survived by two siblings, Mary (Scott) Jewell and Jim (Connie) Lewis and two sister in-laws, Lonnie Annen and Sharon (Brian) Roeske.She was preceded in death by her parents, George Jr. and Faye Lewis. Siblings, Yvonne Cox, Diane Duvall, Jane Everett, John Lewis, Max Lewis and two brother in-laws Tommy Reese and Paul Annen.Visitation will be held at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette, Indiana, on March 19, 2026, from 4:00 –6:00 p.m. Eastern Time Zone (EST) with funeral service to follow.
