Peggy J. Smith

Peggy Smith, age 83, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on March 4, 2026. Born on October 31, 1942, in Tennessee to Blaine and Ethelene Daugherty, she later married Gene Smith in 1980.

Peggy was known for her fiery spirit, wonderful smile, and a love for her family that was unmatched. She especially enjoyed playing Bingo and was known for her famous peanut butter fudge.

She is survived by her husband, Gene Smith; her daughter, Darlene Long; three grandchildren, Christopher (Lela) Cornelius, Nicole (Blake) Fiore, and Michelle (John) Park; seven great-grandchildren; her brother, Jack Daugherty; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ethelene and Blaine Daugherty; sisters, Carole Hayes, Sue Secrist, and Brenda Daugherty; and brothers, Tommy Daugherty, Bill Daugherty, and Randall Daugherty. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
