Peggy Ann Morishita Brookshire

Idaho Falls, ID

Peggy Ann Morishita Brookshire, beloved wife and mother, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 7, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on March 14, 1955, in Idaho Falls to Tucker and Miyo Morishita, she attended elementary and junior high school in her hometown and graduated as Salutatorian from Skyline High School in 1973. She went on to study at California State University at Fullerton, earning a B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1977. During her college summers, she worked for the Bureau of Land Management as a dispatcher for fire crews, where she first met her future husband, Alan Brookshire.

After graduation, Peggy returned to Idaho Falls and began a distinguished career with the Department of Energy. She advanced to the role of project lead for regional engineering and hydropower initiatives, where her expertise in science and mathematics enabled her to mentor colleagues and make a lasting contribution to the department’s alternative energy programs. In 1978, she and Alan were married, and the couple settled into their home in Idaho Falls. Their son, Mark, was born in 1986.

In retirement, Peggy pursued a wide range of interests, including gardening and in-depth online research in medicine and technology. She is survived by her husband, Alan, her son, Mark, her sister, Penny Tibbits (Michael), and many cousins and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Tucker and Miyo Morishita, and numerous aunts and uncles.
