May 1, 1944— March 10, 2026
Sand Point, MI
Peggy Ann Dufty, age 81, of Sand Point, passed away peacefully at her home on March 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on May 1, 1944, in Pigeon, she was the daughter of the late Victor and Dolores (Henne) Lukasiak. In 1970, she married Gerald R. “Dick” Dufty at the Caseville United Methodist Church. Their marriage of more than fifty-one years was spent largely on the family farm, where Peggy was always nearby, ready to lend a hand or ensure Dick had what he needed. Dick preceded her in death on February 5, 2021.
Peggy worked briefly as a hairdresser, cherishing the conversations and friendships she formed with her clients. She was the heart of her family, a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After her own mother’s passing, she naturally became the family matriarch, offering compassion, strength, and genuine care that kept everyone connected. Her grandchildren and great-grandson were the lights of her life; she rarely missed a birthday, sporting event, or school function, always cheering loudly and proudly from the sidelines. She found simple joy in watching sunsets over the lake from the picture window of her cottage.
Known for her vibrant presence, warm smile, and unforgettable laugh, Peggy led with her heart. She thought of others before herself and brought a spunky, joyful spirit to every gathering, quietly making the world brighter for those around her.
She is survived by her children, Rick (Danielle Damen) Dufty and Tami (Steven) Dufty Kreider; her son-in-law, Chad Bring; her grandchildren, Sawyer (Isabella) Langley, Boden Noworyta, Taggert Kreider, Falyn Kreider, Cash Damen, and Tessa Damen; and her great-grandson, Conrad Langley. She is also survived by her sisters, Kay (Sid) Smith, Vicki Born, Deanna (Bill) McLellan, and Janice (Martin) Neumann, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Kimberly Sue Bring Dufty, and her brother-in-law, Don Born.
