Hermitage, PA

Paula A. Chieffo, 83, of Hermitage, formerly of Farrell, passed away on March 11, 2026, at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on May 11, 1942, in Sharon, Paula was the daughter of the late Harry and Ann (Kollar) Staccine. She graduated from Brookfield High School in 1960. She worked at Reyers Shoe Store and later at the former Gibbs Flower Shoppe in Farrell, and also assisted elderly residents in their homes.

In 1962, she married the love of her life, Lawrence R. Chieffo, at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Farrell. He passed away in 2008. A devoted member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Paula served on the Parish Council, including as president, and was a founding member of the Bethany Club, where she served as president and secretary. She also volunteered at the former Geno J. Monti Parochial Grade School.

Paula enjoyed bowling as a charter member of the Wednesday Morning Breakfast League at Thornton Hall and at Sunset Lanes with her husband. She was an avid bocce player at the Italian Home, New Deal Club, Sons of Italy, and the Farrell American Legion. She took great pride in caring for her home and yard, planting flowers, and decorating for Christmas. A talented seamstress, she created wedding gowns, prom dresses, and homecoming attire for many. She was known for her wonderful cooking, especially her famous pepperoni rolls that were always in demand. Above all, she cherished her family and found her greatest joy in her grandchildren, faithfully attending their school and sporting events.

She is survived by her son, Christopher John Chieffo and his wife, Debra, of Lyons, CO; her daughter-in-law, Karen Spon; her grandson, Ryan Chieffo and his wife, Amanda; her granddaughter, Marissa Unverdorben; her beloved great-grandpuppy, Sophie; and her sister-in-law, Mary Joy Stremlau.

In addition to her parents and husband, Paula was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence Chieffo, and her brother, Harry D. Staccine.
