Paul T. Nicholls
May 19, 1959— March 6, 2026
Long Island, NY
Paul T. Nicholls, a beloved husband, son, father, brother, uncle and friend passed away after a courageous fight, remaining a fighter until the very end.
Paul was born on May 19th 1959 in Durban, South Africa to John and Elizabeth Nicholls. At the age of 2 moved to the west country in England, just outside Bristol. He was 10 when he moved to Norwich, where his mother, who is due to turn 100 in June, still lives. In his youth, he developed a deep love for sailing. At just 17, he sailed half way across the world on a 50 foot yacht, with no motor and just one other crew member. He spent many happy years on the water—an early passion that reflected his adventurous spirit and appreciation for life’s simple joys.
As a child, he was always gentle and kind with animals. When he lived just outside of Bristol, he was devoted to the family’s cat, chickens, a rabbit, and even a kid goat. That love of animals stayed with him throughout his life, and you could see it especially in the way he cared for his dog Callie, whom he loved dearly.
Paul built his professional career working in information technology, bringing his expertise across many financial institutions over the years. It was during his time working in London that he met the love of his life, Anne. Their partnership would become the center of his world.
Together, Paul and Anne built a life full of adventure and shared many experiences, traveling the world while living in England and Japan before eventually settling in their final and forever home together on Long Island, New York.
Anne and Paul’s journey as parents began with their oldest son, Matthew, followed by their only daughter, Jamie and their youngest son, John. Over the years, their family grew to include Matthew’s fiancée Alexis, Jamie’s fiancé Louis, and John’s girlfriend Julianna, who were all loved dearly by Paul as part of the family.
Paul is also loved and survived by his mother Elizabeth Nicholls, mother-in-law Camille Romito, siblings, David Nicholls and his wife Creina, and Caroline Roberts and her husband, Alan; along with his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Francis Romito, Michael and Anne Marie Romito, and Nancy and John Coll. He loved his nephew Charlie and his wife Jessica along with his nieces Antonia, Emilie, Kayla, Jillian, Kaitlyn, Mia and Michele and was a proud uncle to them all.
Above all, Paul was a simple man who valued family, loyalty, and the moments that truly mattered. His strength, quiet humor, and enduring love for those around him will be remembered always.
