Scher, PaulBOCA RATON, Fla. - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Paul Scher, who died peacefully at his home in Boca Raton, Fla., on March 16, 2026. He was 91.Born on December 6, 1934, Paul was a man of immense strength and unshakeable character. A veteran of the United States Navy, he returned to Albany to lead M. Scher and Son. Inc. As a third-generation owner of the family's electrical contracting business alongside his late brother, Martin Scher, Paul and Marty were cornerstones of the local industry for decades.Professionally, Paul was known as an innovator who commanded respect and never wavered in his convictions. While he possessed a rugged exterior, his steadfast devotion to his family, friends and longtime employees was unquestionable, he was a man of action who would do anything for those he loved, offering a level of loyalty that was both profound and rare.In 1956, Paul married the love of his life, Elaine Alpart. They were happily married for over 63 years until, her passing in 2020. Paul was a longtime member of Temple Israel and Colonie Country Club, where he was a familiar and respected figure for many years.Paul is survived by his two sons, Mark (Beth) and David (Corinn); his sister, Marilyn Klein; his sisters-in-law, Paula Alpart and Barbara Scher; and his four cherished grandchildren, Michael Scher, Rachel Brown (Ben), Benjamin Scher (Stephanie), and Andrew (Allie). He was also the proud great-grandfather of Elaina Brown, who carries on his beloved wife's namesake. He is further survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.In addition to his beloved wife, Elaine, Paul was preceded in death by his brother and business partner, Martin Scher; and his brothers-in-law, Harvey Alpart and Ronald Klein.A service to honor Paul's life will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 20, at Levine Memorial Chapel, 649 Washington Ave., Albany, N.Y.
