Paul S. "Wimp" Rothermel, 93, of Shamokin passed away Monday, March 9th, at his home.
Paul was born in Gowen City on May 13, 1932, a son of the late John & Ivy (Zimmerman) Rothermel.
He was the husband of Marlene (Long) Rothermel, who passed away in 1997.
He is also preceded in death by his sister, Alice Kerstetter, infant brother Norman, brother Allen "Poof” Rothermel, and daughter in law Kathy Rothermel.
Paul was a veteran of the US Army.
Paul was a member of Saint Paul's United Church In Christ. He was a life member and former chief of the East Cameron Fire Co.
He worked for Weller Vending Service for 43 years.
Paul was a skilled mechanic, who enjoyed working on his son Gary's racecars and trucks and attending dirt track races with his family. His grandchildren & great-grandchildren were his pride and joy.
He is survived by two children: Cheryl Haus, wife of Scott, Hamburg & Gary Rothermel, husband of Kim, Shamokin; two grandsons: Andrew Haus, husband of Caitlyn (Ebling), Orwigsburg and Nathan Rothermel, husband of Courtney (Klinger), Trevorton; three great grandchildren Theodore, Jackson, and Adelyn Haus; a brother Ray "Fat" Rothermel, husband of Mae, Gowen City and a sister Carol Shinskie, Shamokin.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held for Paul on Saturday March 21 at 11am at Saint Paul's United Church In Christ, Shamokin.
A Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers remembrances in the form on contributions to East Cameron Fire Company, 4628 Upper Rd, Shamokin, PA 17872.
