He was born January 28, 1958 to the late Lewis Carlton and Sarah Catherine Boger Haigler.Rusty graduated from East Mecklenburg High School, class of 1976. He continued his education at U.N.C.C., graduating with a degree in biology. His career path led him to work for various insurance companies as a Claims Adjuster in the areas of property, liability and medical malpractice. He later worked reviewing and consulting with Hospital Administrators on medical liability policies and procedures. Upon returning to Charlotte, he worked for the Mecklenburg County Dept of Social Services as an Administrative Support Assistant III. He retired in May of 2025.Rusty enjoyed the outdoors, specifically going to the mountains and the beach. He loved spending time with his family, friends and especially the "MAD DOGS" during their annual "Pig-Picking" gatherings.Rusty is survived by his loving partner and wife of 46 years, Rev. Martha Hilton Haigler; his brothers, David Haigler and Dan Haigler and partner, Jennifer Sirois; his aunts, Hazeline Haigler Stroup and Miriam Boger Burlos; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.A service to celebrate his life will be held on Saturday, March 28th 11:00am at Providence Baptist Church, 4921 Randolph Rd. Charlotte, NC 28211 in the sanctuary with a reception to follow.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to:The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave. Suite 1100, North Bethesda, Maryland 20814 The American Heart Association, Inc., 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, Texas 75231Providence Baptist Church 4921 Randolph Rd.
