Kern, Sr., 83, of Allentown, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2026 in his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Helen M. (Wesley) Martin Kern for 23 years and the late Louise C. (Gaal) Kern, who died in 1996.Born in Allentown, he was a son of the late Martin Lewis and Verna Arlene (Kramer) Kern. Paul was a member of the first graduating class at Louis E. Dieruff High School in Allentown. He worked for many years in Labor & Repairs at Electrical Equipment, Smith & Peifly and Canns-Bilco in Alburtis. In retirement, Paul enjoyed his employment under Steve Groff at Dorney Products. He loved to play Poker and Pinochle (he may have been known to â€scount cardsâ€t) and visit Lehigh Valley Active Life senior center.Survivors: his loving wife, Helen; daughter, Paula M. Hero and her companion Frank Seier of Allentown; sons, Paul M. Kern, Jr. of Washington, Michael D. Martin and his wife Dawn of Springville, New York; sisters, Catherine L. Snyder and her husband Robert of Allentown, Mary A. Moyer and her husband Edward of Pennsburg, Nancy M. Martin of Walnutport; brother-in-law, Bradford D. â€sSmokeyâ€t Martin of Northampton; grandchildren, Michael R. Gorman, Vanessa L. Hero, Paul M. Colby, Zackary R. Martin; great-granddaughter, Kaci Gorman. Paul was also preceded in death by 2 infant brothers.Services: A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026 in the K.V. Knopp Funeral Home, 46 E. Susquehanna Street, Allentown. A viewing for relatives and friends will be held from 10 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park, Allentown.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
