Paul B. Hitchcock of Tupelo passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 12, 2026 at Tupelo Community Care after a lengthy illness. He was 87. Born on August 7, 1939 in Pontotoc County, he was the son of Chester B. Hitchcock and Annie Lou Roberts Hitchcock. A longtime member of Wallfield Baptist Church, Paul lived out his faith through a quiet and humble character. He was known for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help others in any way he could. He found pleasure in tinkering on cars, yet his greatest joy came from time spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Paula Houser and Joy Funderburk; his sons, Greg Hitchcock (Kristina) and Shawn Hitchcock (Farra Kelly); grandchildren, Robyn Lynn Tatum, Christy Diane, Dominick Walker, Riley Hitchcock, Sydney Hitchcock, Darren Hitchcock, D’lisa Stamper, Payton Hitchcock, Hunter Hitchcock, Trinity Hare, and Baylee Hitchcock; great-grandchildren, Kylee Capps, Kloe Capps, Kaleb, Karley, Hayden Hitchcock, Noah Stamper, Johnnie Hogue, and Liam Fredrick; two sisters, Jean Lanoma Hitchcock Daniels and Charlotte Ann Hitchcock Turner; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Henry Allen Hitchcock, James Dow Hitchcock, Ken Nelson Hitchcock, and Rex Dale Hitchcock.
