Paul F. Koenig, 95, of Wapakoneta, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the Cridersville Healthcare Center. Born on December 17, 1930, in Wapakoneta, he was the son of the late William C. and Catherine (Frankenburg) Koenig. In 1955 he married Kathleen M. Steinke, who survives him.

Paul worked as a welder and farmer before retiring as a pipefitter from BP Oil in Lima. He earned an associate degree in steam engineering from NBC in Lima and also welded at Unisteel in Wapakoneta. A U.S. Army veteran stationed in Germany, he remained a devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta for more than six decades, serving at Mass and belonging to the Holy Name Society, the Knights of Columbus Council #1272, and the Gasper del Bufalo 4th Degree. He was an avid fisherman with the Brands Lake Fishing Club, enjoyed woodworking and camping, and took pride in his ability to repair nearly anything.

Above all, Paul cherished time spent with his family. He is survived by his wife Kathleen; their six children, Michael (Cindy) Koenig of Conover, Marcia (Denny) Maas of Wapakoneta, Mark (Mary) Koenig of Copley, Marlene (Steve) Steinke of Anna, Marge (John) Greve of Delphos, and Matthew (Carol, deceased) Koenig of Middle Point; 18 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; his sister, Sister Dorothy Koenig, C.PP.S., of Dayton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Don (deceased) and Anna Marie Steinke, Judy (Tony, deceased) Yahl, Tommy (Jan) Steinke, and Rudy Steinke Jr.; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his siblings and their spouses: Bill (Lucille) Koenig, Julian Koenig, Adrian (Marie) Koenig, Omar (Dee) Koenig, Sister Gemma Koenig, C.PP.S., infant Cyril Koenig, Bernard (Pat) Koenig, Virgil (Sharon) Koenig, Viola Koenig, and infant Angela Koenig.
