Paul Edward Hohman, 75, of Philipsburg, passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2026. Born on March 30, 1950, in Sharon to John and Anna (Davies) Hohman, he lived a life defined by his deep commitment to education, community service, and family.
A graduate of St. Joseph Primary School and Kennedy Catholic High School, Paul earned his degree in education from Slippery Rock University. He spent 40 years as an elementary school teacher, first at St. Michael’s in Greenville and later in the Philipsburg area, where he inspired and guided generations of young students. After retiring from teaching, he continued serving others as a full-time insurance agent for the Knights of Columbus.
Music held a special place in Paul’s life. He sang in the choir at St. Joe’s, participated in the music ministry at Slippery Rock, and at St. Peter and Paul in Philipsburg served as a lay minister, cantor, CCD teacher, lector, and Eucharistic minister. He was known for his joyful spirit on the dance floor whenever music played. In his youth, he was an active Boy Scout who achieved the rank of Eagle Scout and was elected to the Order of the Arrow. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1993 and held numerous leadership positions, including recorder, Deputy Grand Knight, Grand Knight, Past Grand Knight for the Holy Family Council 08071, and Faithful Scribe and Color Corps member of the Clearfield Assembly 0952.
Paul is survived by his wife, Brenda Hohman; his daughters, Amber Hohman, Nicole Maines (C.J.), and Tonya Hohman; his grandchildren, Kellen, Brielle, Declan, and Tregan; and his brother, Mark Hohman (Sue). He is also remembered by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Miriam Smiley, John J. Hohman, Patricia Formichella, and Mary Hohman, who died in infancy.
