Paul Wood ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Best Funeral Services Peoria on Mar. 16, 2026.Good evening. We come together today to honor and remember the life of Paul Wood II, a cherished husband, father, and respected member of the community, who passed away peacefully on March 3rd, 2026, in Peoria, Arizona, at the age of 67, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease.Born on September 9th, 1958, in Charleston, West Virginia, Paul grew up with a spirit of determination and a warm, engaging personality that would become his hallmark throughout his life. He carried these traits into his studies, attending West Virginia University, where he majored in Business and Marketing, laying the foundation for what would become a distinguished career in lumber sales. For over four decades, Paul was a dedicated lumber salesman, deeply respected by his colleagues at Alliance Lumber and Ray Lumber for his integrity, work ethic, and his innate ability to connect with people. His passion for his work was paralleled only by his commitment to his faith, as he lived his life guided by Christian principles, often volunteering at church events, and offering a helping hand to those in need.Paul's life was a tapestry of rich experiences and simple pleasures. He was an avid sports fan, always eager to discuss the latest game or cheer on his favorite teams. But perhaps his most cherished pastime was walking. Paul was known to walk an impressive 12,000 steps a day, a testament to his love of the great outdoors. This love for walking was never more evident than when he hiked the Grand Canyon rim to rim in his 60s.A nature enthusiast, Paul found joy in the quiet moments, like feeding the hummingbirds in his backyard, a peaceful activity that reflected his gentle nature.Paul's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Ella Wood, who stood by his side in love and partnership throughout their marriage, and his children, Matthew and Kayla Wood, who inherit his strength, compassion, and zest for life. He instilled in them the values that they will carry forward. As we say goodbye to Paul Wood II, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. His imprint on this world, through his professional achievements, his devotion to his family, and his unwavering faith, will not be forgotten. Paul's journey through life was one of joy, commitment, and the pursuit of excellence, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Rest in peace, Paul. Your memory will live on in the hearts of your loved ones and the many lives you touched. His memorial service will be held on March 21, 2026 10:00 am at Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church (8801 N 43rd Ave Phoenix, AZ 85051).To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
