Paul E. "Speed" Hurles, 76, of Chillicothe, passed away on March 11, 2026, at the Chillicothe VA Medical Center after an extended illness.

Born on November 13, 1949, in Chillicothe, Ohio, to the late Hugh Englebert "Bert" and Mary Harrison Hurles, Paul graduated from Southeastern High School in 1968. He then served his country in the Vietnam conflict, earning two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star for his courage and sacrifice.

Paul worked for 46 years at Chilpaco before retiring. In the years that followed, he remained closely connected to the land through his dedicated service to the Drake family farming operation. He was a longtime member of U.P.I.U. Local 988, VFW Post 108, and American Legion Post 62.

He is survived by his son, Brad E. Hurles; sisters, Marilyn "Sis" (Daniel) Strausbaugh and Jody Williamson; grandson, Kyle (Ashton Ward) Hurles; granddaughter, Jessica (Ricky Coreno) Hurles; special cousin, Walt Brown; and significant other, Julia Kempton-Davis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter-in-law, Susie Shepherd Hurles, and brother-in-law, Richard Williamson.
