Patty Lou Whitaker Harrison

Patty Lou Whitaker Harrison, 86, of Boonville, passed away on March 11, 2026. Born on March 2, 1940, in Yadkin County, she was the daughter of the late John Haskel Whitaker and Clara Belle Underwood Whitaker.

She graduated from Yadkinville High School and married her high school sweetheart, Roy “Verne” Harrison, on April 6, 1958. Patty worked at Hanes Hosiery for several years before returning to Surry Community College, where she earned an associate degree in accounting. She later worked for Brendle’s and then for Charles Scott CPA firm, retiring at the age of 70. Her greatest joy came from her deep love for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy “Verne” Harrison, and her brothers, Bill Whitaker and Miles “Ray” Whitaker. She is survived by her children, Tamara (John, Jr.) Murphy and Timothy (Amy) Harrison; grandchildren, Julia Murphy, John Murphy III, and Amanda (Brian) Streetman; great-grandchildren, Harrison Streetman and Benjamin Streetman; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members.
