Patsy Sue Burks

Patsy Sue Burks, age 83, of Krum, Texas, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 9, 2026. Born on April 9, 1942, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to Leslie and Flora Jones, she lived a life rich in love, warmth, and dedication to her family and passions.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Gerald Smith, whom she married in 1961, and Thomas Burks, whom she wed in 1990, as well as her son, Kenneth Smith, and her grandson, Kaleb Smith.

Patsy is survived by her sister Peggy Belcher and husband Larry, her daughter Debbie Blankenship and husband Perry, and her grandchildren Wesley Smith and wife Joanna, Brittney Black and husband Barton, Brandi Silva and husband Dewayne, Taylor Blankenship and wife Jennifer, and Bethany Blankenship. Her great-grandchildren, Sophie, Violet, Landon, Nate, Case, Liam, Kaiden, and Miles, brought her special joy in her later years.

Patsy’s vibrant personality was reflected in her love of gardening, where she coaxed beautiful blooms that adorned her home, and in the peace she found fishing and hunting. A gifted craftswoman, she created treasured pieces through needlework and other handiwork. Her culinary talents filled her kitchen with comforting aromas that drew family together for stories and laughter. Above all, she loved Jesus and her family fiercely, and her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
