Patsy Ruth Simmons

Patsy “Pat” Simmons, born in Bedford, Virginia, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026. A loving daughter, wife, sister, and aunt, she was a beloved member of her community whose warmth and faith touched everyone she met.

A longtime member of Victory Baptist Church, Pat sang in the choir and served on several church committees. She also served as a trustee for the Tennessee Baptist Children’s Home. Her faith and community spirit remained central to her life. Talented with a needle, she was an avid quilter who looked forward to annual quilting retreats with her sister. She found joy in playing the piano and organ, and she and her husband, Gene, shared many happy years traveling together and meeting new people. Shopping with her sister created some of her most cherished memories.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Ruth Abbott, and her husband of 54 years, D. Gene Simmons. She is survived by her sister, Virginia “Ginny” Coleman and husband William “Bill”; nieces Kensie Coleman Seamster and husband David, their son William “Liam” Seamster, and Sarah Coleman and husband Phillip Murphree; and brother-in-law Bill Simmons and wife Theresa and their family.
