Patsy Ruth Howell, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 16, 2026, at the age of 90. Born on May 11, 1935, in Layland, West Virginia, Patsy was a beacon of love and resilience, cherished by all who knew her.Patsy spent her formative years at the Mooseheart Orphanage, which instilled in her the importance of family and community, qualities she nurtured throughout her life. She graduated from Ohio State University, where she met her soulmate, Richard Howell. Patsy and Richard shared a love story for the ages, having eloped in secret during their college years. Their union was a testament to their deep bond and was eventually proudly revealed to family and friends.An esteemed claims adjustor, Patsy had a long and successful career marked by dedication and integrity. Outside of work, she was deeply engaged with the United Methodist Church, where she was a beloved member of the women's prayer group. Patsy's life was also enriched by her active involvement with the Hanover Township Senior Center, where she cultivated many friendships.Her vibrant spirit will be missed by her children: Allen (Tamara) Howell, Amy Murphy, Robert (Jill) Howell, and Lisa Leshin; grandchildren: Dustin, Stacy, Jimmie (Caitlyn), Andrew, Matthew (Rose), Joshua, Aaron, Daniel, Stephanie (Dan), Caitlin (Jackson), Kagan (Nate), Jessica (Jeremy), Thomas, Benjamin, and Emily; and great-grandchildren: Mason, Declan, Landon, Cora, Caleb, Gavin, Brayden, London, Liam, Blake and Lincoln..Patsy is preceded in death by her parents, Moody and Margaret Barnett, and her devoted husband, Richard Howell.A visitation will be held at Countryside Funeral Home and Crematory of Bartlett in Bartlett, IL, on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a funeral service immediately following at 6:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Patsy's memory to the Alzheimer's Association at https://www.alz.org/Patsy's legacy is one of enduring love, commitment to family, and unwavering faith. Her memory will forever be a guiding light in the hearts of those who knew her.
