August 23, 1953— March 10, 2026
Shawnee, OK
Patricia Marie Scroggins, lovingly known as Pat, Trisha, and Granny Patty, passed away on March 10, 2026, at the age of 72, surrounded by her family. Born on August 23, 1953, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, she graduated from Shawnee Public Schools in 1971 after also studying Health Occupations at Gordon Cooper Area Vo-Tech. She spent much of her career in the medical field, working in accounting, billing, data entry, and office management.
On June 4, 1971, Patricia married Robert Lane Scroggins in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Together they made their home there while Robert pastored at Northeast Free Will Baptist Church. They experienced both profound loss and joy in their family life. Their first child, Lance Patrick Scroggins, was stillborn on March 26, 1973. They later welcomed their son, Travis Wayne Scroggins, born in Ada, Oklahoma, and their daughter, Shelli Ranae Scroggins, born on August 11, 1980, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
A woman of deep faith, Patricia accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 11 and was baptized alongside her mother in a country pond. She found great joy in worship and praise, especially at The Church of Acts in Oklahoma City, where her love of singing was well known. Her life revolved around church, music, and ministry. She had a special passion for teaching God’s Word and for encouraging and counseling women. With a rare gift for listening, she spent countless hours offering comfort and wisdom to those who sought her out. Her home became a haven for many, eventually leading to the beginning of a women’s ministry where she helped others discover their true identity in Christ.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Dale J. Garner and Edith Marie Garner of Shawnee, Oklahoma; her brother, Michael Dale Garner of Los Banos, California; her brother-in-law, Corky Cobbs of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and her son, Lance Patrick Scroggins of Wichita Falls, Texas. She is survived by her sisters, Dee Ann Cobbs of Shawnee, Oklahoma, and Angela Watson and her husband Rick Watson of Noble, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her children, Travis Scroggins and his wife Theresa Scroggins of Lebanon, Missouri, and Shelli Harding and her husband Cory Symes of Norman, Oklahoma. She adored her grandchildren, Katlyne Scroggins and Kourtney Scroggins of Centerville, Ohio; Emarie Harding of Norman, Oklahoma; Justine Tamayo and her spouse Zach Green of Lebanon, Missouri; Julia Gunter and her spouse Chase Gunter of Lebanon, Missouri; and Jasmine Tamayo of Lebanon, Missouri, as well as her two great-grandchildren, Juliette Kelley and Zeppelyn Green. She was surrounded throughout her life by loving aunts, uncles, cousins, dear friends, and church family who brought her strength and joy.
