Johnson City, NY

Patricia Rae Drewry, a longtime nurse and devoted mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on March 5, 2026, at Mercy House of the Southern Tier. She was 88.

Born on May 3, 1937, in Breesport, New York, to Lorraine Z. Vowell and Francis W. Clark, Pat graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1954 and earned her RN degree at Binghamton City Hospital in 1957. She continued working in nursing until nearly the age of 80. She remained close with her nursing classmates, gathering monthly for lunch and laughter. Pat was known for her writing and belonged to several local writing groups. She found joy in walking, hiking, reading, and especially in planting and observing flowers, with violets and daffodils holding a special place in her heart. She loved being near the water, particularly in the Finger Lakes region. A member of the Apalachin Federated Garden Club, she also delivered Meals on Wheels for Tioga County and cherished her close friends who became like family.

Pat’s daughters and grandchildren were the center of her world. She delighted in decorating extensively for holidays and buying gifts for those she loved. At 63, she met Dan Drewry, whose guitar and songs won her heart. They married on Valentine’s Day in 2003 and considered their union a miracle.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother-in-law Robert Drewry. Pat is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Drewry; her children Sharon Lorraine Vargo (Dean), Mary Beth Weston, and Andrea Arden Gerding (Bill); stepdaughters Amy Heath and Faith Drewry; grandchildren Christian Michael Penaherrera, Olivia Rae and Cambria Marie Litzinger; stepgrandchildren Chrissy and Bill Gerding; her brother Larry Arden Vowell and his children Alexis (John) and Ryan (Jamie) and their children; brother-in-law Arthur Drewry; and many members of their families.
