Hammond, LA

Patricia “Pat” Herlevic Oglesbee was born on February 7, 1946, in Monroe, Louisiana. In 1974, she moved to Hammond, Louisiana, where she built a life rooted in faith, family, friendship, and service.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Ludvic Frank Herlevic of Mobile, Alabama, and Meytris Johnston Herlevic of Choudrant, Louisiana.

Pat is survived by her three sons, who were the pride and joy of her life: Jeffery Thomas Oglesbee and wife Allison, and their children Zachary and Grant; Brian Patrick Oglesbee and wife Leann, and their children Benjamin and Samantha; Todd Christopher Oglesbee and wife Aliscia, and their children Logan, Landon, and Lawson; and by her devoted sister, Peggy Herlevic Purcell of Monroe, Louisiana.

Her grandchildren were her greatest joy. She treasured every gathering, every milestone, and every moment she could spend simply being “Ma-Maw.” Pat began her career as a Publications Editor in the Regional Office of State Farm Insurance in Monroe and often spoke fondly of her years at Northeast Louisiana University, where lifelong friendships were formed. After moving to Hammond, she devoted many years to teaching Freshman English at Ponchatoula High School, encouraging and shaping the lives of countless students.

She had a remarkable gift for friendship and for keeping people close. She remained connected with cousins and friends from Monroe throughout her life and was a faithful member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church, drawing strength and comfort from her deep faith. Pat was a longtime member of “The Pearls” and also enjoyed the fellowship of her bunco and pokeno groups. She treasured regular lunches with her circle of retired teacher friends and time with her “Lunch Bunch,” where conversation, laughter, and friendship were always present.

Pat faced her battle with cancer with courage and grace. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, her deep love for family and friends, and the warmth she carried into every room. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched. From her three boys, who will always be her boys: thank you, Mom, for the faith you planted in us, the example you lived every day, and the love you gave without condition. We will carry you with us—in our homes, in our children, and in the way we choose to love others.
