Patricia Zdancewicz ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Memorial Park Funeral Home & Cemetery on Mar. 16, 2026.Patricia Melody Zdancewicz, 99, of Memphis, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2026.Born on October 1, 1926, in Nashville, TN, she attended Saint Bernard Academy and Vanderbilt University. She was preceded in death by four siblings, Kitty Beasley, Nellie Melody, Margaret Melody and Bud Melody, all of Nashville, and her daughter-in-law, Jan Farrell Zdancewicz of Memphis.She met John Zdancewicz, a Navy Veteran returning from World War II. while they were both attending Vanderbilt University. Following John's graduation, they wed, moved to Memphis, raised their family, and were side by side until his death in 2003.Once their children were all in grade school, she returned to school herself, attending Memphis State University and accumulated four Masters Degrees. She went on to enjoy being the long-time librarian at Mitchell High School until her retirement.She and her husband were avid bridge players and continued playing in several groups until The Covid Pandemic prevented play. Prior to picking up the bridge game, her time was devoted to marshalling her three boys and attending countless ball games which continued with the grandchildren.She is survived by her three sons, Jack (Alice), Michael (Joye) and Bill (Julie) and grandson, J.P., all of Memphis; grandchildren Michelle (Peter) Ehrig, Lisa, and Alan, all of Katy, TX; Jake (Kayla) and Jana (Chris) Taylor of New York, NY; and four great grandchildren, Conrad, Clark, Clayton and Michael, also of Katy, TX.Services will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, where she and John were original members when the church was founded. Visitation will commence on Thursday, March 19th at 12:30 p.m. in The Clunan Center followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m., and burial at Memorial Park Cemetery.The family thanks the nurses, staff and caregivers at The Farms at Bailey Station for the wonderful care provided to our mother.In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Louis Catholic Church, Christian Brothers High School, or a charity of choice.Arrangements have been entrusted to Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery, 5668 Poplar Avenue, Memphis, Tennessee 38119 (901) 767-8930.
