Patricia Lee Hildenbrandt
December 6, 1938— March 5, 2026
Windsor, CO
Patricia Lee Hildenbrandt, 87, of Windsor, passed away at home on March 5, 2026, just as she had wished.
Born on December 6, 1938, in Greeley, Patti grew up as the middle of three sisters in Platteville. She graduated from PHS in 1956, where she participated in band, MYF, and 4H. She then attended Colorado Teacher’s College, majoring in Home Economics. In 1958 she married James C. Hildenbrandt after first noticing him at the Greeley swimming pool the previous summer.
Patti excelled in the domestic arts, finding particular joy in meal preparation, sewing, and creating and tending beautiful yards and gardens in every place she lived. Independent at a time when many women were not, she embraced adventures with her children, Kathy and Les, while her husband traveled for work. Her father had told her she could do anything, and she lived by those words. Her children fondly recall her playful self-reference as “Pope Patti the Pious,” a gentle reminder that she wished them to see her as infallible. After her children left home, she and Jim enjoyed camping club, square dancing, and bringing her landscaping visions to life. She worked as a manager for House of Fabrics before discovering her calling at World Savings in the Lakewood and Applewood branches, where she formed many lasting friendships.
Above all, Patti found her greatest happiness as “Granny” to Mandee, Andrea, Emily, and Craig. She was always ready for the next adventure with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents Conrad and Mary Walter, and several other dear family members. She is survived by her son Les Hildenbrandt and his wife Ledis of Windsor, her daughter Kathy Good and her husband George of Sterling, her grandchildren Mandee (Jess), Andrea (Chris), Emily, and Craig, her great-grandchildren Annaliese and Adaline, her sisters Louise Simms and Carol Lew, her beloved brother-in-law Doug Hildenbrandt, and many nieces and nephews.
