Patricia Schumacher ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Premier Funeral Services - Salt Lake City on Mar. 17, 2026.Patricia (Pat) Kay Schumacher reunited with the love of her life, Lyle, on February 14th 2026. Pat passed peacefully under the compassionate care of CNS hospice while at the Stone Creek nursing facility in Bountiful Utah.Pat was born and raised in Ottumwa Iowa, the youngest child of Forest and Vida Chaplin. While taking some classes at the local Community College she was introduced to her future husband Lyle Schumacher. She immediately did not like him. But, like any good hallmark movie, they eventually fell in love and got married in August of 1970. They started their life together in Sigourney Iowa, living in a little downtown apartment, until they eventually purchased a home. She lived a simple life in Iowa, raising her children and working as the secretary at the local Christian church. In 1985 she and her family moved to Layton Utah. It was in Utah that she started working for the IRS. Pat stayed at the IRS until she retired, mostly because they had an outstanding bowling league. Pat liked to bowl. It was an activity that she often shared with her children, bowling a few frames and eating some fries with a soda (no ice).Pat was a strong resilient woman. Despite suffering a stroke in 1999 that left her without the use of her right side, she remained active in her grandchildren's sports, music, and dance activities. She loved long leisurely drives with her husband, always on the lookout for a hole in the wall café or restaurant where they could share a meal. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends. If you spent time with Pat, at some point, she would take your hand and say "I love you". It was not just a throw away phrase, she truly meant it. She was a feisty woman with a heart overflowing with love. She is survived by her children Tina Schumacher, Anthony (Denny) Schumacher, and Tiffany (Josh) Balentine. Her grandchildren Tanner (Alyssa) Smith, Aspen (Kyle) Schumacher, Bridger (Maria) Smith, Hunter Smith, and Addylaide Schumacher. And by her brother John (Janet) Chaplin. If you are reading this, and knew Pat, she would like you to know, "I love you." And, well… shit.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
