Patricia Kay Leal

Corpus Christi, TX

Patricia Kay Leal, known affectionately as Tricia Mikeal, passed away on February 25, 2026, at the age of 65, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 27, 1960, in Corpus Christi to Richard and Edweina Mikeal, who preceded her in death, Tricia grew up with an outgoing personality and a wide circle of friends. An exceptional student with an adventurous spirit, she embraced new experiences, enjoyed sports and an active lifestyle, and cherished time at the beach as well as fellowship with her church family at Ebony Acres Baptist Church, where she was baptized and remained a faithful member.

Tricia graduated from Roy Miller High School and later from Texas State University in San Marcos. She returned to Corpus Christi before moving to Austin in 1988, where she built a fulfilling career at the State Comptroller’s Office for 25 years. She embraced the Austin lifestyle and was a devoted fan of the University of Texas Longhorns, along with the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Astros, where she especially admired player Jose Altuve. Tricia also found great joy in cooking and baking, delighting family with her famous chicken salad, cookies, cakes, and desserts for gatherings and holidays. Her love of travel took her to many countries, and she often spoke excitedly about future destinations.

After retiring, Tricia moved to New Braunfels, where she lived with her beloved cats, Ripple and Layla, before recently returning to Corpus Christi to be near family. She will be remembered for her love of life, adventurous spirit, and generous heart. She is survived by her sister, Sherry (Pat) Bradley; niece, Stephanie (Jaime) Gomez; nephews, Jake (Jenny) Persall and Josh (Rachel) Persall; great-niece, Kelsi Curren; great-great-nephew, Kash Curren; aunts, Janice Radnor, Donna Cantu, and Bettie Coakley; uncle, Dever (Patsy) Edwards; and many loving cousins and extended family members.
