July 7, 1955— March 8, 2026
Newark, NJ
Patricia Gail Colson Henegan was born on July 7, 1955, to the late Helen H. and George L. Moss, the fifth child in a home filled with love and laughter. Known affectionately as Trisha, she grew up surrounded by her siblings, creating a childhood marked by warmth and lively moments. She attended Quitman Street School and later completed her education at Girls Trade School.
Trisha became a devoted mother to her three children, Fatima Moss Pervis, Shaquan Moss, and Tidey Boseman. For more than 30 years, she worked for the Newark Board of Education, where she took genuine joy in feeding and connecting with students and staff. She was widely remembered throughout the neighborhood as “The Candy Lady” for her generosity in feeding the homeless and giving to children and adults alike, always believing in giving back to her community. A faithful member of Revelation Tabernacle Faith Church, she lived her life with quiet devotion.
Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Rickey (Muhammad) Henegan; her daughter, Fatima Moss Pervis (Lawrence Pervis); grandchildren Yaminah, Jasmine, Maleshia, Zamirah, and Justin; great-grandchildren Jabril, Josiah, and Aria; Haneefa and Anya Austin; siblings Valerie Moss, Gregory Moss, and Wayne Moss; daughter-in-law Elena Harris; Elena’s son Taquan Harris; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sons Shaquan and Tidey, siblings Carolyn, Elizabeth, Gloria, Ali, Keith, and Michael Moss, her aunt Mary L. Hampton, and her uncle Charles Hampton.
