Patricia G. Patterson

1944 — 2026

Staunton, VA

Patricia Ann Gordon Patterson, 82, of Staunton, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her residence.

Born on January 27, 1944, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late James Robert and Alice Virginia Fitzgerald Gordon, Patricia earned her four-year degree from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, where she was a proud member of the final all-female graduating class before the university became fully coeducational.

She devoted many years to education as a science teacher in the Augusta County School System, teaching at Fishersville Elementary School, Stewart Middle School, and Riverheads Elementary School. Patricia loved her students deeply and found lasting joy in watching them learn, grow, and succeed. She remained active in the community as a member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Waynesboro and the Retired Teachers Association of Augusta County, and she was a proud supporter of the Dolphin Research Center in Marathon, Florida.

Outside the classroom, she cherished traveling the world with her husband and held a special affection for the good people of Montebello. She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Glen Wilton Patterson, Jr.; her son, Eric Wayne Patterson and his wife, Allison Miller; her daughters, Heather Leigh Patterson and Wanda Houff Moloney; and her grandchildren, Salv and Adder Patterson, and Alicia Moloney.
