Patricia Anne Redmond

April 29, 1934 March 10, 2026

West Chester, PA

Patricia Anne Redmond, born April 29, 1934, to Irish immigrants Nellie Naughton of Mayo and Pat Waugh of Donegal, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2026, at the age of 91.

Known affectionately as Pat, Patsy, Aunt Patsy, Mom, Grandmom, or Mrs. R, she is survived by her two sons, P.J. Redmond and his wife Natalie, and their sons Dan and Mike; and Joe Redmond and his wife Elaine, and their children Joe and Jessica. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Joe Redmond, Sr., who died in 2010, and their youngest son Ed, a map historian at the Library of Congress whom they called “Tedward” with great pride. She also outlived her sisters Marge Pasceri and Helen Waugh, SCC, and is survived by her sister Sr. Kathleen Waugh of the Sisters of Mercy at McCauley Convent in Merion.

Pat grew up as the third of four daughters in a household shaped by her parents’ emphasis on effort and achievement. Educated at Our Lady of Lourdes and West Catholic School for Girls, she retained a love of literature and could recite poetry learned in high school well into her final days. After working as a hospital laboratory technician, she married Joe and devoted herself to raising their family while remaining deeply involved as a volunteer with Ss. Philip and James parish and school from its founding in the early 1960s. Later in life she earned a degree from Immaculata College and worked for approximately fifteen years in geriatric social services and nursing homes in Delaware County.

A rigorous mind paired with a wry outlook and strong opinions defined much of Pat’s character. She found lasting companionship and balance in her deep friendship with Mag DeAngelis, whose optimistic nature complemented her own. Together they shared decades of thoughtful conversation and everyday domestic life that formed the quiet foundation of a happy home. She valued usefulness, friendship, and the rewards of a long marriage, leaving behind a legacy of appreciation for those who strive to live well and serve others.
