Patricia Ross ObituaryObituary published on Legacy.com by Lynch & Sons Funeral Home - Walled Lake on Mar. 3, 2026.Patricia Ann Theresa Gregg Ross filled the world with a presence that could not be missed. To some she was a daughter, a mother, a sister, a wife, a friend, a teacher. To all she was a beacon of light and love, generously shared with anyone who crossed her path. Always offering a compliment, a smile, and a warm embrace, Patricia had an innate ability to give others strength, courage, and support, qualities that became legendary within her circle and her community.Born on October 4, 1946, to Francis and Dorothy Gregg, Patricia was graced with her parents' faith, compassion, and deep sense of community. She and her older brother, Charles, were each drawn to lifelong service in the Church. Charles felt called to serve as a Holy Cross Brother, and Patricia began her vocation with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, becoming Sister Helen as her faith deepened. In time, her journey led her away from convent life and toward a new chapter, marrying Lawrence Ross and completing her teaching degree at Marygrove.Continuing a deeply spiritual life outside the convent, Patricia began teaching and coordinating in Catholic schools including Sacred Heart, Christ the Good Shepherd, St. Ives, and Ladywood, where she inspired countless young people to explore their faith and their place in their communities. She also loved her work with the local Metroparks, especially Wolcott Mill, honoring the connection to nature her father had instilled in her. Yet for Patricia, the role that mattered most was becoming a mother, a vocation she cherished above all others. When her children were born, John Lawrence in 1975 and Andrea Patricia in 1983, Patricia discovered a new passion, pouring her heart and soul into motherhood. Throughout her life, she sought to share with her children and grandchildren the abundant compassion, thoughtfulness, spiritual grounding, and love that had guided her along her own path.If you were ever in Patricia's presence, you knew the feeling of being loved unconditionally by someone who seemed to shine brighter than the stars. She had a gentle way of putting others at ease, inviting them to share their dreams or their troubles without hesitation. With a loving gaze, a soft embrace, and words filled with wisdom and a deep sense of the Divine, she created a place of safety and warmth for her children, her family and friends, and her students. A saint among us, she will be forever missed.Patricia is survived by her children, John Lawrence Ross (Kim Rain) and Andrea Patricia Gream (Robert Gream), and by her grandchildren: Ian Macgregor Ross, Evan Slater Ross, Alexander Robert Gream, and Matthew James Gream. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Joseph Gregg and Dorothy Gladys (Joles) Gregg, and by her brother, Br. Charles Bernard Gregg.Graveside committal service will be held at the Preserve at All Saints Cemetery, 4401 Nelsey Rd. Waterford, Wednesday 11 AM. Please assemble near the office on the main boulevard as you enter the cemetery by 10:50 AM.The family will also be holding a Celebration of Life on May 30, 2026 at 1:00pm at Pontiac Lake State Park, South Shelter Pavilion. Since the parks were such a huge part of her life, they thought it would be a great place to honor her, paying for the park pass for anyone who doesn't have one, and allowing those who wish to visit her resting place in slightly warmer weather. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.
