Patricia Ann Ames

Patricia Ann “Pat” Ames, 87, of East Dubuque, Illinois, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2026, at Mercy One/Dubuque Medical Center.

Born on May 12, 1938, in Dubuque, Iowa, Pat was the daughter of Arthur and Marie (Fleischman) Welu. On August 9, 1958, she married Edwin “Dewey” Ames at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque. Dewey preceded her in death on October 21, 2006.

Pat was a longtime active member of Wesley Methodist Church in East Dubuque. She found great joy in playing bridge, gathering with family for games, fishing, camping, and cheering for her beloved Chicago Bears and Cubs. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose warm presence touched everyone around her.

She is survived by her children, Aleta (Jim) Hicks of Shellsburg, Iowa, David Ames of East Dubuque, Illinois, Beth (Terry) Boleyn of Dubuque, Iowa, and Kimberly (Kevin) Kelley of Hudson, Illinois; her grandchildren, Kelly (Jason) Howard, Sam (Anna) Jackson, Ben (Chiara) Ahmann, Jake (Sarah) Kelley, Jeremy (Katie) Ames, Jessica (Craig) Hoskins, Kelsey Kelley, and Mike Ames; and many beloved grandchildren by marriage and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Marie Welu (Seippel), her husband Dewey, and many other dear family members.
